Below is a list of common risk factors, symptoms and more of those who may be struggling.
This one, as well as social isolation, are the only two round-about scenarios. With substance abuse, the user may be coping, generational, or even years of continued use.
Along with substance abuse, social isolation is a two way slip and continuous cycle. The individual will hide away to cope and/or to not hurt the others around them.
Unemployment is also a dangerous risk factor, because the individual may be subject to poverty, stress, and lack of support. This could lead to potentially dangerous coping skills and increased anxiety/depressions symptoms.
Substance abuse and social isolation become dangerous when an individual is coping with their experiences with the military. Individuals with military trauma may also display more symptoms of anxiety, PTSD, and/or depression.
These include, diseases, disorders, genetic health conditions, etc. Since there is little to no control over them, individuals may be more likely to be at high risk for displaying symptoms.
